Studies show exercise protects us from heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, obesity, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and depression. It can even boost your memory. With all these positives to look forward too wouldn’t you want to give yourself the best chance of avoiding these diseases and, at the same time, lose weight?  Well the good news is there are a number of activities you can do depending on your lifestyle, commitments, time and budget.

Why not join a gym

Joining a gym is one option, and a great way to exercise on a regular basis. Yes, it can be costly and time consuming but, paying on a monthly basis will incentivise you to go and save you money long term.  Gyms have a wide range of classes if you’re the type who needs motivation rather than using machines. If a gym is not suitable for you then there are usually numerous exercise or dance classes that you can go too locally at a time that suits your schedule.

What a great way to help you achieve your weight goal. However, if you’re someone who needs some extra help or motivation then here are some additional tools and tips.

For those on a tight budget

If you just love the great outdoors there are other options such as walking, running, cycling or swimming. You’d have to be pretty brave to swim outside in the winter, so I’d recommend sticking to an indoor pool.

These are all activities you can do on your own or with a buddy. At Get Slim, Stay Slim Guaranteed we can set you up with a ‘support buddy’ who’s already taking the journey, to help motivate you when you need a little push.

Alternatively, you can email me your questions and concern at enquiries@abicord.com . In my next blog I’ll try to address some of the bigger issues raised and make some recommendations.

How often should you exercise?

You do need to introduce some form of exercise into your weekly routine to protect your health and well being.  If you start off  with just 30 minutes a day, 2 or 3 days a week, you can build up from there aiming to reach 5 days.

You don’t have time for this you say?

I’m sure you watch TV or sit at your computer for longer than this! The key is to make your health as important as every other aspect of your life. Don’t think of it in a daunting way or try to make your commitment too hard to do. Take it gradually and build up and you’ll quickly see the benefits. Don’t panic about how much weight you MUST LOSE just make the changes and the rest will happen gradually, depending on your age and how many changes you want to make to your lifestyle.

It will happen and remember, we’re here for you, to help you be amazing.
