Three bean salad
This is a really quick dish to prepare if you are in a rush. Just Combine all the ingredients and serve with the salad leaves.
A NOTE ABOUT PROTEIN - You may have heard that high protein diets can be very effective in weight loss. This is true, but it is mostly water which is lost and usually the weight soon returns. Too much protein, particularly animal protein such as red meat puts a strain on the liver and kidneys and can actually promote osteoporosis. When the body excretes too much protein, it will excrete too much calcium along with it.
We all need around 40g of protein per day and eating anywhere above 80g a day will increase your risks of developing osteoporosis. In the short term of between 1 month and 3 months it can be helpful to increase protein intake from vegetarian sources, fish and chicken to 65/70g per day to restore blood sugar control and fat burning. After this period it is best to return to 40/50g per day to maintain fat burning.
400g mixed beans e.g.: harricot, chickpeas, kidney beans 1 avocado chopped
Handful of sweet corn kernels
2 Tbs chopped parsley
1 celery stick finely chopped Half a red bell pepper diced 8 cherry tomatoes
2 Tbs olive oil
Mixed salad leaves
Combine all ingredients and serve with salad.
